In the middle of 60s the whole Bay of Caminia was a sort of handkerchief of beach set between the cliffs of Copanello and Pietragrande, bounded by the only existing viable ionic government road (SS106) that took to Reggio Calabria. The spectacular top vision was that of a very ample beach crossed for all of its length by the ionic railway line, surrounded by the classical Mediterranean pine forest, overhung by a bare rocky cliff. The only comfortable access to the beach was that of a dirt irregular road that followed the lines of the precipice; that gap had been realized thanks to the use of a bulldozer. In that time, the inhabitants of the Municipality of Stalettì preferred, for their summer vacations, to attend this isolated and reserved beach, building some small momentary essential wooden shelters some of which positioned under the railway line bridge. The very Anthony Aversa’s far-sighted idea was to create a small rest point in that beach which had no essential services, but equally preferred by the people of Stalettì for the long summer vacations. In those days, during ’60-’80, the summer vacations began in June and ended in September and sometimes in late October.

The success and the utility of the initial idea, brought quite soon to widen and to improve what had been a small original stilt house. The wooden structure, that systematically got destroyed by swells, left place to a better building. Fifty years have passed; today this facility includes a restaurant pizzeria, a cafe-pub, the beach area devoted to the services and interconnected to the bungalows village displaced at little distance. La Cabaña offers a series of services to the tourism; think about the religious masses that every Saturday are celebrated on the beach in front of the facility and you can understanding what attention and care La Cabaña has for its clients.

When people talk about Caminia they usually talk about La Cabaña! The historical bond between La Cabaña and the Caminia Bay has become a unique idea, strengthened by the professionalism and the usual customer care.  The whole structure is built on two levels that supply those services that are mostly appreciated by clients on the beach during their pleasant stay. All the fittings and devices are certified for the maximum safety as per law. Dressing cabins, warm showers, disability accesses, swimmers’ assistants for the control of the whole area, emergency room ready equipped for life rescue, these and other facilities are available for the best relax of our clients.

The restaurant-pizzeria La Cabaña can accomodate about 300 people inside an ample and bright room that directly leans out on the beach of Caminia with a spectacular wide terrace with sight on the sea. Our fresh fish menu based on the fished coming from the local coastal fishing boats is accompanied by the best Calabrian wines. For the lovers of the pizza, the oven is rigorously firewood based. During the summer season, a very convenient tourist menu is available. Special discounts for the clients of the village.

At the restaurant and pizzeria a specific menù for celiacs is available.

The whole area with the bungolows is delimited by a fency and a general access the common avenue on which the units lean out. Every single bungalow has an independent or direct access from the road (bungalows sea side). In order to limit the environmental impact, every structure has been built with insulating wooden panels and very limited parts in concrete. Every bungalow has its own external area of pertinence – porch – and external common points of relax with barbecue. Wooden roofs wound by fabrics and climbing plants for shade make the external relax pleasant and refreshing, also during the hottest summer days. Every bungalow is equipped by solar panels for the production of warm water with zero environmental impact. For the most demanding clients an air conditioning system is available to rest in full coolness after a day of warm sea and sun. The village has a full coverage WiFi for all of our clients.
